BECOME A VOLUNTEER

Volunteering is a great way to give back to a community and feel good about helping others. We have many volunteer opportunities at Secondhand Mutts. Please download the Volunteer Application to get the process moving faster toward becoming a volunteer. If you have specific questions you may reach our Volunteer Committee by emailing us at volunteer@secondhandmutts.org.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNTIES

Events: We attend many events throughout the year and need people to work at our booth to answer questions, sell merchandise and be a point person for inquisitive event-goers. We also love having plenty of "Dog Chaperones" to transport and stay with our dogs during those events.

Dog Walking: Being a dog walker is a great way to give our dogs a break from the pack and some one-on-one attention outside of our facility. Some of our dogs really benefit from having a walk and learning proper manners when on a leash.

Gift Baskets: Do you have a knack for arranging gift baskets? We are always collecting donations and can always use help making raffle baskets prior to our events.

Fostering: We are always looking for foster homes so our dogs get home-life experience prior to their adoption. To learn more about our fostering program continue reading below.

FOSTERING PROGRAM

The Secondhand Mutts Fostering Program is a integral part of our mission to Respect the Dog. We are looking for individuals with a little time and love to give to the deserving dogs in our program. Whether you are thinking about fostering-to-adopt, want to see a dog through to its forever home or just give them a much needed night away from the daycare environment, Secondhand Mutts can use your help as a foster parent to our adoptable dogs.

Albus and Action Jackson

Secondhand Mutts strives to provide the best possible fostering experience for both you and our dogs. Our connection with The Mutt Hutt offers flexibility that makes fostering an easy decision. We work with our foster families to pair them with dogs that fit their lifestyle and home environment while providing daycare services and overnight stays whenever they are needed. Also, if you are a client of The Mutt Hutt (or would like to be!), fostering gives you the opportunity to earn discounted or free daycare services for your own dogs!

New to fostering? Our staff and volunteers are available to assist in the adjustments that we all face when a new dog enters our home. Secondhand Mutts can provide crates, food, training tips and we always covers 100% of the dog's medical expenses while in your care.

The love and support our dogs receive in foster care makes all the difference. Though our Secondhand Mutts enjoy the luxury of a cage-free daycare environment at The Mutt Hutt, nothing can replace a real home. We hope you will consider filling out a foster application. If you have questions or would like more information about fostering, please email our Foster Committee at fosterdogs@secondhandmutts.org.

To start the process we require all foster parents to fill out our Foster Home Application. Download it and fax it to us at 216-373-4902, drop it in the mail or send it via email to rescue@secondhandmutts.org so we can start the process of approving your home.
